Hamster fact:
I do leave some hamster-droppings in Lucy's cage,
because hamsters can't digest all their nutrients from their food,
in one go (like we fortunately can :-)
therefore hamsters (need to) eat their droppings to get their essentials.

It is fun to notice Lucy's consistency,
in her treadmill distances and times.


She does seem sometimes to, like, (overly) relax;

March 29, 2008 - Day 275: 7.22 meters in 5 minutes 50 seconds,
April 3, 2008 - Day 280: 25.84 meters in 6 minutes 16 seconds,
April 7, 2008 - Day 284: 29.53 meters in 5 minutes 48 seconds


She does seem to keep an average steady pace:

the wonderful joys of a flu...


Not feeling well is one thing,
having to keep a distance of Lucy is another.

We at HamsterTracker™ take special care
to not infect Lucy.


So we put a nice treat in Lucy's cage, for her to grab.
It didn't take long for Lucy to drag it to her bedroom:

The night after (Horror Night)
Being worried a (quite) a bit about Lucy's health
after her big escape yesterday night (see below).


I did notice that Lucy put some treats back in her Meditation room,
which seems to indicate she is able to climb all the way up,
therefore not have broken any limbs while escaping !!!


Just now I discovered a sensor misalignment,
that's why Lucy 'didn't spend time in her treadmill' last night.


Therefore, the Treadmill-sensor misalignment,
isn't that much of bad news !

Horror Night at HamsterTracker™
This morning at 3:00 am I woke up. I went to the bathroom and had a quick checkup with Lucy...

HORROR...


I found disaster,
and NO Lucy:

- En-scene-'d, 18+ hours after -


Lucy had escaped, the meditation room was laying on top of the main cage
(it probably got loose when I cleaned it all)...


I looked around everywhere,
crawling on the floor,
trying not to panic !

[ I told myself over and over, that's not wise to panic in this situation ! (which helped !) ]


I looked around everywhere, but I couldn't find her.
At approx. 3:25 am, I had setup a hamster (friendly) trap;
a staircase, made out of books (and treats) which leads to a box with wood shavings.

While feeling really lucky I bought some fresh wood shavings the day before (see below) " - Mathijs

I posted myself, in the best overlooking place in my living room,
(which has an open kitchen),
using a glass bowl in which I keep some of Lucy's treats,
I shook it as hard as I could, while trying to observe any movement...

It worked !


Lucy came from behind the refridgerator.
(It's nice and warm back there, AND the same place I found Lucy2.0 when she escaped that one time. )

It was because I was a bit nervous, I guess 3:40 am does that to you ! " - Mathijs

Lucy returned back home at approx. 3:43 am!

Then I almost forgot:

At 4:00 am I went back to bed,
to try to catch some sleep.


Oh, I am so glad she's back !!!
