Lucy with a big snack

When Lucy wakes up during the day,
she gets up to use the bathroom and to have a drink of water.
Sometimes when I catch her doing this, I give her a treat.
If the treat is big enough, Lucy will move it immediately to her bedroom;
for a late night snack, I suppose...

I don't think I've ever documented Lucy having a drink from the waterbottle.
So today when she had a drink, I took out the camera

My Mistake...

This last week my perception of smell was zero due to a cold.
I took special care with washing hands before handeling Lucy.
Hamsters can catch a cold or flu, so you never can be too carefull.
Lucy made it clear (for the second time) that her bathroom needs cleaning.
(I missed that, because lack of smell)...
" ! OUT OF ORDER ! "
So I immediately cleaned it:
It took Lucy only minutes to wake up and inspect the cleaned bathroom.
I guess it was much needed, because the inspection didn't take long:
" Would you please excuse me? " - Lucy
Sorry Lucy!

Lucy's routine
|
After Lucy had some time in her Explorer Ball (approx. 20 minutes),
I get her out of her Explorer Ball while sitting on the couch.
She climbs out, checks the whole couch,
after when she comes sitting next to me and the left arm of the couch:
" Dude, what are you doin'? " - Lucy
" I was like ALMOST ready! " - Lucy
Then in the blink of an eye...
" Party time, Dude! " - Lucy

I love spring time, and I chould and should have shot this photograph last sunday,
but this one is shot today;
[ I never planted these daffodills, they show up by themselves every year! ]
They started to blossom on day 633!
The next picture is shot on day 290, in 2006:
Spring is early this year;
(633 - 290 = 343,
that's 365 - 343 = 22 days earlier!).
Adding another 25 ultra cool photographs of Lucy!

This morning the sun was shining pretty bright.
After I woke up, Lucy wanted some attention,

in the sun, as opposed to all the artificial lighted photo's I've been making:

Almost a Lucy-Touchdown!

Lucy always tries to score a 'Lucy-Touchdown', when on the couch.
(She climbs up on the back of the couch to reach a table)
Lucy scores quite a few, but not always:

After scooping her, Lucy wasn't particularly thrilled:

Lucy's-Treadmill-Sensor Troubles are resolved!
|
This weekend, when looking at Lucy's treadmill data,
I was a bit worried (see also the graphs below).
So I set out to check the treadmill sensor:
After moving the sensor a bit it became obvious,
there is quite some dust blocking accurate treadmill registration(s).
Left arrow, points to the dust on the outside of Lucy's cage,
while the right arrow points to the dust on the Treadmill-Sensor-IR-LED.
I cleaned it and these last couple of days it all seems to do it's job again!
Then I had to tell Lucy...
" You mean to tell me, I've been runnin' for nothin' last week??? " - Lucy
I am makin' up with her as you read this; pine-seeds, Vitakraft Rondis... you name it...

Lunar eclipse tonight

Tonight (in about 3 hours after writing this,
we here in the Netherlands can experience a full Lunar eclipse.
Being a fan of such natural phenomenon:
It inspired me and Lucy in making the following photograph.

Constructing a puzzle for Lucy
|
To keep Lucy busy, I thought it would be a great idea to
construct a puzzle for her:
Cut of a piece of Poster-Tube.
Place tube upright, (both ends open)
add some saw dust,
then add a treat.
It's really in there!
Fill to top with saw dust.
Added even more saw dust while compressing it.
24 hours later
Lucy hasn't touched it,
but she has chewed some of the TP-roll off,
and took most of the seeds from her food bowl.

I have been having quite some fun with Lucy on the couch.
To make it even more interesting for Lucy,
I placed a paper poster-tube,
in the couch for her to explore:

" Hmmm, what's with this newspaper? " - Lucy
Well, I put it there to make it more interesting.
Lucy ran through the picture-tube a couple of times,
but she rather poses:
" Vogue Dude! " - Lucy
